UAE allocates $10 million for humanitarian response in Haiti
Emirates Red Crescent to deliver food, shelter and health aid as displacement tops one million, according to WAM.
ABU DHABI — The United Arab Emirates is providing US$10 million in urgent humanitarian assistance to Haiti through the Emirates Red Crescent Authority (ERC), state news agency WAM reported on 12 September 2026. The aid was directed under President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, with follow-up from Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, ERC chairman, according to the report carried by Trinidad Times, Jamaican Times and The National.
The ERC said the programme includes essential food supplies, shelter materials, health services, water, sanitation and hygiene support, and medicines and medical equipment, targeting internally displaced people and vulnerable groups. It said the first phase will focus on urgent food, shelter, health, water and sanitation needs.
The relief effort will be implemented in coordination with UAE missions abroad, international organisations and humanitarian partners to identify priorities and reach the most affected areas, the ERC said. It added that it continues to monitor developments to address humanitarian, security and logistical challenges tied to escalating violence and displacement.
Haiti faces a worsening crisis driven by violence, insecurity and deteriorating services. Latest international data cited by the ERC indicate more than one million people are internally displaced, roughly half of them children, while millions face food insecurity.
