Haiti deploys 31-member medical mission to earthquake-hit Venezuela

Haiti has deployed a 31-member volunteer medical mission — doctors, surgeons and emergency specialists — to Venezuela to assist in relief efforts following twin earthquakes that struck on June 24, according to The Haitian Times. The team departed Port-au-Prince's Toussaint Louverture International Airport on July 7 and arrived July 8, carrying 5.5 tons of medical supplies and equipment. The delegation is expected to remain 15 to 22 days, working primarily in Caracas and Caraballeda, in La Guaira state. The magnitude-7.2 and 7.5 quakes killed 3,811 people, injured 16,740 and damaged more than 58,000 buildings, with roughly 50,000 still reported missing, per official figures cited in the report. Haiti financed the deployment in full at no cost to Venezuela, framing the mission as an act of humanitarian solidarity between the two nations.
