UAE Allocates $10 Million for Humanitarian Response in Haiti
The Emirates Red Crescent will deliver food, shelter, health and sanitation aid as displacement and food insecurity worsen.
ABU DHABI — The United Arab Emirates is providing US$10 million in urgent humanitarian assistance to Haiti through the Emirates Red Crescent Authority (ERC), according to a statement carried by state news agency WAM on September 12, 2026, and reported by outlets including thenationalnews.com, tag911.ae, and regional wires such as the Trinidad Times and Jamaican Times.
The aid was directed under President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, with follow-up by Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, ERC chairman. The programme includes essential food supplies, shelter materials, health services, water, sanitation and hygiene provisions, along with medicines, medical supplies and equipment, targeting internally displaced people and vulnerable groups.
The ERC said it has completed preparations to implement the programme according to field priorities, with a first phase focused on urgent food, shelter, health, water and sanitation needs. The relief effort will be coordinated with UAE missions abroad, international organisations and humanitarian partners.
Haiti faces a worsening humanitarian crisis driven by escalating violence, insecurity and the deterioration of essential services. According to the statement, latest international data indicate over one million people are internally displaced, around half of them children, while millions face food insecurity and require urgent assistance.
