Haiti Humanitarian Fund Allocates US$75 Million to Aid Half a Million Haitians
OCHA-managed fund to support 10 projects across 28 priority communes amid escalating violence and displacement.
The Haiti Humanitarian Fund, a financing mechanism managed by the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), announced on Monday, October 12, 2026, an additional US$75 million allocation to address urgent needs arising from violence and displacement, according to haitilibre.com. The funding will support 10 projects across 28 priority communes in the West, Centre, and Artibonite departments, providing emergency assistance to 507,000 people amid escalating violence and disruptions to essential services. Aid will cover food, drinking water, medical care, and emergency shelter, and will strengthen protection for women and children at risk of abuse and exploitation. Survivors of sexual violence will receive medical care and psychosocial support, while funds will also treat children with acute malnutrition and assist people with disabilities. The allocation includes US$4.5 million for a rapid response mechanism. "This contribution will help sustain the response and preserve hard-won gains for millions of Haitians facing hunger, displacement, and the collapse of services," said Nicole Kouassi, UN Humanitarian Coordinator for Haiti. Three consortia of national and local Haitian NGOs will receive funding directly, in line with commitments to locally led responses. One consortium is led by a women-led coalition spearheading protection efforts. OCHA said each dollar is allocated based on needs, security risks, and access conditions.
