Tabou Combo and Tropicana to share the stage at Hôtel Karibe on August 22

Two pillars of Haitian music, Tabou Combo and l'Orchestre Tropicana, will share the same stage on Saturday, August 22, at the Hôtel Karibe in an evening billed as 'Fusion,' according to Le Nouvelliste. The event marks a double musical anniversary, as both groups celebrate their founding in the month of August. Tabou Combo, founded on August 27, 1968, will mark 58 years, while Tropicana, born on a August 15, reaches 63 years of existence. The evening will also feature artists Albert Chancy and Lionel Benjamin as guests, before an audience expected to be large. Speaking Friday on Radio Magik9, sociologist Augustin Antoine described the gathering as a celebration and an important moment for the public, promising 'a beautiful party.' He said the August 22 lineup should not be perceived as a competition between two orchestras but rather as a meeting of the two ensembles, per Le Nouvelliste.
