Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé has laid out the government's main orientations in the framework letter for the 2026-2027 budget, sent to authorizing officers on August 10, 2026, according to Le Nouvelliste. The document projects a slightly positive real growth rate provisionally estimated at 0.2%, an inflation rate of 15.8% for 2026-2027, a return to zero monetary financing, and a modest increase in the fiscal pressure of 4.4%. The framework letter also calls for substantial investments in the security forces, the continuation of the electoral process and a strengthening of democratic institutions, Le Nouvelliste reported. Earlier reporting noted that a GDP growth of 0.3% was projected for the 2025-2026 fiscal year, following what the outlet described as Haiti heading toward a seventh consecutive year of negative growth. Separately, on Monday, August 17, 2026, Fils-Aimé met at the National Palace with Organization of American States (OAS) Secretary General Albert Ramdin. Discussions covered security, the electoral process, justice, sustainable development and economic recovery. During the meeting, Haiti signed agreements with the Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean (CAF) on immunities, exemptions and privileges, and on the country's integration into that institution, according to a Primature statement.
