Haiti weighs modern FIFA-standard stadium in Les Cayes
Sports Minister Pythagore Dumas inspected Parc Larco in the South as the government studies building a FIFA-compliant stadium.
Haiti's government is exploring the construction of a modern, FIFA-standard football stadium in Les Cayes (South Department), according to icihaiti.com. On Saturday, October 10, 2026, Minister of Youth and Sports (MJSAC) Pythagore Dumas, accompanied by Director General Wilfince Mombrun, conducted a second inspection visit to Parc Larco, the outlet reported. The visit aligns with the government's aim to provide the country with a stadium meeting FIFA standards, enabling the men's and women's national teams — the Grenadiers and Grenadières — to host home matches. Dumas said Prime Minister Fils-Aimé is involved in resolving a land dispute that has hindered the park's operation for over a decade. He announced that MJSAC sports infrastructure experts would soon conduct a feasibility study and consider launching the project in the near future. Officials indicated the plan could involve not merely a renovation but potentially the construction of a modern stadium. Berthin Bazelais, the MJSAC Departmental Director for the South, welcomed the idea and thanked the Prime Minister and Minister Dumas. The MJSAC has also committed to rehabilitating six sports parks nationwide, the outlet said. No budget, timeline or financing details were provided.
