Haiti to Convert 101 Public Schools into Pedagogical Support Centers

Haiti's Minister of National Education, Vijonet Déméro, has issued a circular mandating the gradual transformation of 101 public schools into "Fundamental Application Schools / Pedagogical Support Centers" (EFA/CAP), distributed across the country's ten departmental Directorates of Education, according to haitilibre.com. The initiative is part of an effort to strengthen the continuous professional development of teaching staff and provide pedagogical support to fundamental schools, aiming to enhance educators' professional competencies, consolidate classroom teaching practices, and improve the quality of learning for students. The circular establishes an operational roadmap for the conversion of the designated institutions, which are listed in departmental annexes. A Pedagogical Support Center will be attached to each school, with construction, rehabilitation, and equipping carried out progressively in line with the Ministry's architectural and pedagogical standards and subject to the availability of resources. Each EFA/CAP is to provide continuous professional development and pedagogical oversight for a local network of approximately 50 associated fundamental schools, and each center will be staffed—subject to budgetary availability—by two pedagogical advisors. The General Directorate, through the Directorate of Fundamental Education (DEF) and the EFA/CAP Coordination Unit (UCEFA/CAP), is responsible for management, strategic direction, and overall technical monitoring, the outlet reported.
