Haiti Signs Two Cooperation Agreements With CAF Development Bank
Deals aim to integrate Haiti into the Latin American development bank and boost financing for development projects.
PORT-AU-PRINCE — Haiti's government signed two agreements on Aug. 17 with the Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean (CAF), according to a report by Gazette Haiti cited by almomento.net. The first document, aimed at strengthening regional cooperation, sets out the institution's immunities, exemptions and privileges in Haiti, as well as the country's integration into the Latin American development bank. It was signed by Foreign Affairs and Worship Minister Raina Forbin and CAF Executive Vice President Gianpiero Leonini, and is intended to facilitate the regional institution's cooperation efforts with the country. The second agreement, part of Haiti's process of joining the bank, was signed by Economy and Finance Minister Serge Gabriel Colin and Leonini. According to the newspaper, it will allow Haiti to strengthen its participation in CAF financing and cooperation mechanisms, particularly in support of development and investment projects. Both agreements were signed during a visit by a high-level inter-American delegation led by Caribbean Community Secretary-General Carla Barnett.
