Haiti's Minister of Foreign Affairs and Worship (MAEC), Raina Forbin, signed an agreement on Monday, August 17, 2026, with Gianpiero Leoncini, executive vice-president of the Andean Development Corporation (CAF), also known as the Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean, according to Le Nouvelliste. The accord concerns immunities, exemptions and privileges between the Republic of Haiti and the CAF. According to the MAEC, the agreement will allow the CAF to carry out its activities on Haitian national territory. The signing is part of Haiti's process of joining the CAF as a shareholder member country. It follows the signing, the same day, of the share subscription agreement by the Minister of Economy and Finance, Serge Gabriel Collin, on behalf of the Haitian state. Haitian authorities are counting on the Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean to finance long-term development projects, Le Nouvelliste reported. The move marks a further step in expanding Haiti's access to multilateral development financing.
