Haiti's National Ambulance Center (CAN) has initiated a new management approach for the 2026-2027 fiscal year, iciHaiti reported. At the initiative of Director General Ricardo Jean Baptiste, the Administration and Budget Directorate (DAB) was tasked with organizing a workshop to develop a "new management model for the CAN."

According to iciHaiti, the workshop brought together the institution's key directorates, units, services and departmental offices, both in person and via videoconference. Participants engaged in a collaborative process to analyze the CAN's current operations, aiming to improve needs planning, ensure the rational use of resources, clarify responsibilities, enhance operational readiness and establish regular results monitoring.

Discussions focused on assessing the current situation, identifying needs, prioritizing actions, forecasting resources and formulating decisions, following the logic of the CAN's action plan model, which defines areas of intervention, objectives, activities, indicators, timelines and necessary resources.

Participants included the Directorate General, the Emergency Care Directorate (DSU), the Departmental Directorates Coordination Unit (UCDD), the Legal Unit, the Communication and Public Relations Unit, the Logistics and Maintenance Unit, the Evaluation and Programming Unit, the DAB, the Departmental Directorates, the Human Resources Department and the Accounting Department. The CAN said the goal is to improve operations and the quality of pre-hospital services, iciHaiti reported.
