Haiti's Foreign Minister Receives CARICOM Eminent Persons Delegation

Haiti's Minister of Foreign Affairs and Worship (MAEC), Raina Forbin, received a delegation from CARICOM's Eminent Persons Group (EPG) at the Chancellery on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, during an official visit to Haiti, according to Le Nouvelliste. The delegation included former prime ministers Kenny Anthony of Saint Lucia, Orette Bruce Golding of Jamaica and Perry Christie of the Bahamas, along with CARICOM representatives including Ambassador Colin Granderson, Deputy Secretary-General Elizabeth Solomon and Anna-Lisa Jones-Reis, a project officer at the CARICOM Secretariat. Ambassador Jerusa Ali, director general of the Bahamas Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Bahamian chargé d'affaires Julian Smith were also part of the delegation, the outlet reported. According to Le Nouvelliste, discussions focused on the country's political and security situation, the evolution of the electoral process and the conditions needed to hold "free, credible, inclusive and secure elections." The talks also addressed CARICOM's support for efforts undertaken by Haitian authorities to promote a way out of the ongoing crisis. The visit reflects continued regional engagement with Haiti's transition process.
