Haiti's Education Ministry Trains Some Fifty School Inspectors in Pétion-Ville
The West Departmental Directorate of Education led a session on pedagogical and administrative supervision aimed at strengthening oversight in schools.
On Friday, October 9, 2026, Haiti's Ministry of National Education and Vocational Training (MENFP), through the West Departmental Directorate of Education, organized a training session in Pétion-Ville for approximately fifty school inspectors, according to haitilibre.com. The session was themed "Pedagogical and Administrative Supervision."
Étienne Louisseul France, West Departmental Director of Education, described the training day as essential, saying ongoing professional development for inspectors is imperative to ensure quality teaching, learning and the smooth operation of schools. The training was led by inspectors Guiteau Francois, Asselhomme Saintil and Bien-Aimé Point-Dujour, and covered pedagogical supervision, the role of the inspector, support for the pedagogical director, and pedagogical observation.
France urged inspectors to demonstrate rigor, objectivity, discernment and a strong sense of responsibility. His deputy, Harry Moncoeur, said inspectors' role is threefold: ensuring compliance with standards and curricula, evaluating teaching practices and school performance, and advising teachers and principals. He added the role requires evolving skills, including mastery of pedagogical approaches, data analysis and digital tools.
Claudin St-Jour, Director of Training and Professional Development, framed the day as part of efforts to strengthen administrators' professional skills, stressing that education quality depends on effective, regular and student-centered supervision, haitilibre.com reported.
