Haiti's CEP Publishes Revised Electoral Calendar, Setting July 2027 First Round
The Provisional Electoral Council released an updated timeline on October 28, 2026, pushing the process to conclude in October 2027.
Haiti's Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) published a revised version of the electoral calendar on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, according to Le Nouvelliste and Haiti Libre. Under the new calendar, the ongoing electoral process is slated to conclude in exactly one year, in October 2027. The first round of elections is set for July 18, 2027, while the second round of the presidential and legislative elections is scheduled for October 4, 2027. According to Haiti Libre, the updated calendar results from the promulgation of the Electoral Decree of October 6, 2026, which revised the Decree of June 2, 2026, itself modified by the Decree of July 2, 2026. The council said the revision followed consultations with security forces, political actors, civil society, members of the private business sector and exchanges with the government. The CEP stated the updated calendar aims to promote the continuation of electoral operations under conditions allowing the actors concerned to meet their obligations in compliance with the legal framework. In its editorial, Le Nouvelliste noted the release came 'without surprise' and questioned whether the government will meet the schedule, citing prior CEP decisions. The full revised calendar was made available as a PDF in French.
