Haiti's CEP Observes Quebec General Election in Knowledge-Sharing Program
Council member Jacques Desrosiers took part in an observation initiative organized under the Francophone Electoral Skills Network.
Haiti's Provisional Electoral Council (CEP), represented by Council Member Jacques Desrosiers, participated in an experience-sharing and election observation program held in conjunction with Quebec's provincial general elections, according to haitilibre.com. The initiative was organized under the auspices of the Francophone Electoral Skills Network (RECEF) to provide a deeper understanding of the mechanisms and procedures involved in preparing, organizing and conducting electoral operations in Quebec, the outlet reported. The program unfolded in several stages. Participants first attended a series of presentations led by staff from Élections Québec and external speakers, focused on electoral administration, the management of general elections and the organization of voting. A second phase involved direct observation of electoral operations, including visits to polling stations and electoral districts in the Quebec City region, allowing participants to familiarize themselves with aspects such as the management of the permanent electoral list. Following his participation, Desrosiers delivered a presentation on the electoral process, drawing parallels to challenges specific to the Haitian context. The session was attended by representatives from organizations including Action-Haiti, Architecture sans frontières Québec, Carrefour de solidarité internationale, CIDIS and the University of Sherbrooke. The CEP said it reaffirms its commitment to knowledge exchange among Francophone electoral institutions and to conducting the electoral process in an inclusive, impartial and transparent manner.
