Haiti's CEP Deploys Mobile Teams to Boost Voter Registration
Electoral Registry Agents are now operating at workplaces and businesses to help eligible Haitians join the electoral roll.
Haiti's Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) has deployed mobile teams of Electoral Registry Agents (ADRE) to increase the number of voters on the electoral roll, according to icihaiti.com. The council said it is informing public institutions and private businesses that the mobile teams are intended to facilitate voter registration at workplaces or while individuals are out running errands. According to the CEP, the heads of several public institutions and private companies have already authorized the teams to operate on their premises. The primary mission of the mobile teams, organized by the Electoral Registry Directorate, is to assist employees and clients who hold a National Identification Card (CIN) in registering on the electoral roll. The CEP reminded the public that, at the time of registration, voters are free to choose their preferred polling station. The council said the electoral roll currently contains 881,523 registered individuals. The outreach forms part of the CEP's broader effort to expand participation ahead of future elections. No additional timeline or targets for the registration drive were specified in the announcement reported by icihaiti.com.
