Haiti's Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MCI) and its partners launched the first edition of the Semaine de l'industrie (Industry Week) at the Hôtel Karibe, under the theme "Toward the revitalization of the Haitian industrial sector," Le Nouvelliste reported. Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé officially opened the event on Thursday, October 1, 2026, in the presence of Minister of Commerce and Industry James Monazard, the newspaper said. Scheduled from October 1 to 3, 2026, the activity aims to bring together private and public investors, entrepreneurs, academics, experts and industrialists to examine the challenges facing the sector and its potential. According to Le Nouvelliste, the prime minister reaffirmed his administration's commitment to supporting the sector's recovery and announced the implementation of a Strategic Industrial Policy Plan intended to structure value chains, modernize infrastructure and improve operating conditions. Fils-Aimé also framed the industrial revival as a means to reduce dependence on imports, add value to local resources and create jobs. The reporting notes that the Association des industries d'Haïti (ADIH) is set to present its own "Strategic Industrial Policy Plan 2026-2050" during the week.
