Haiti's Ministry of National Education and Vocational Training (MENFP) and the Economic and Social Assistance Fund (FAES) signed a memorandum of understanding on Tuesday, August 18, aimed at providing financial support to 140,000 vulnerable parents ahead of the 2026-2027 school year, according to Le Nouvelliste. An envelope of 2.5 billion gourdes has been allocated for the initiative, the outlet reported. The signing took place at the MENFP's General Inspection office in Musseau, with the Minister of National Education and the FAES director general signing the accord. Through the program, authorities say they intend to help the most vulnerable families cover back-to-school costs.
