On Saturday, October 24, 2026, engineer Théophil Ostinvil, Director General of the National Directorate for Drinking Water and Sanitation (DINEPA), officially launched construction on the Drinking Water Supply System (SAEP) for Décovil, located in the Petit-Fond communal section of the Lascahobas commune, according to iciHaiti. He was joined by the Regional Director for the Centre Department and various departmental and local authorities. The project is funded by the World Bank through the Rural Drinking Water and Sanitation Project for Resilience and Sustainable Development (EPARRDD). According to the source, the initiative aims to provide beneficiary populations with access to high-quality, reliable and continuous drinking water and sanitation services. Once completed, the project is expected to benefit more than 1,500 families, marking a step forward in expanding essential services in rural communities. The construction work is projected to take 12 months and will be carried out by the firm Plan Consul. The United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS), acting under a contract with DINEPA, will oversee the project and manage its execution. iciHaiti reports the project aligns with the Haitian government's commitment to making access to drinking water and sanitation a national priority, extending essential services beyond major urban centers.
