DINEPA launches Décovil water project to serve 1,500 families in Lascahobas
World Bank-funded drinking water system in rural Petit-Fond section expected to be completed in 12 months.
Officials launched construction of a drinking water supply system (SAEP) in Décovil, located in the Petit-Fond communal section of Lascahobas, on Saturday, October 24, 2026, according to icihaiti.com. The official launch was led by engineer Théophil Ostinvil, Director General of the National Directorate for Drinking Water and Sanitation (DINEPA), alongside the Centre regional director and departmental and local authorities. The project is financed by the World Bank through the Rural Drinking Water and Sanitation Project for Resilience and Sustainable Development (EPARRDD). According to the source, it aims to durably improve living conditions by giving beneficiaries access to reliable, continuous and quality drinking water and sanitation services. More than 1,500 families are expected to benefit. The works, with an estimated duration of 12 months, will be carried out by the firm Plan Consul. The United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS), operating under a contract with DINEPA, will serve as project owner's representative and supervise the project in line with established contractual terms. The initiative reflects the Haitian government's stated goal of making access to drinking water and sanitation a national priority, extending essential services beyond major urban centers to rural communities, icihaiti.com reported.
