American Airlines officially resumed flights to Haiti on Sunday, November 1, 2026, with the inaugural AA2492 landing at Cap-Haïtien International Airport, according to haitilibre.com. The flight departed Miami at 10:30 a.m. and landed at 12:28 p.m., marking the carrier's return after roughly two years of interruption. Joseph Almathe Pierre Louis, Minister of Public Works, Transport and Communications, announced the resumption of the daily connection, which officials said will facilitate the return of the diaspora, business travel and international links. The inaugural flight was operated by an all-Haitian, Creole-speaking crew under the command of Captain Oliver Jean, a former Director of Civil Aviation in Haiti who later joined American Airlines. The ceremony drew the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Director General of OFNAC, the Director General of the National Airport Authority (AAN), diplomatic representatives and local economic players. Pierre Louis said the return 'gives our commitments a particular resonance,' adding that the earlier suspension had 'prolonged separations.' Pascual Álvarez, Managing Director for South America, Central America and Caribbean Operations, noted American has served Haiti since 1971. The daily route will be operated by Boeing 737 aircraft, offering more than 90 U.S. connection options via Miami. Departures are scheduled at 10:20 a.m. from Miami and 1:28 p.m. from Cap-Haïtien.
