American Airlines resumes Haiti service with all-Haitian crew, marking 100th regional destination
Daily nonstop flights between Miami and Cap-Haitien restore the carrier's presence in Haiti during its centennial year.
MIAMI — American Airlines has launched daily nonstop service between Miami International Airport (MIA) and Cap-Haitien, Haiti (CAP), restoring the carrier's presence in the country, the airline announced on news.aa.com. American described the route as the 100th destination in its Caribbean and Latin America network, a milestone reached during its centennial year in 2026.
The inaugural flight was operated by an all-Haitian, Creole-speaking crew led by Captain Oliver Jean, the airline said. Cabin crew members named by American included Birline Vernet, Patrick Casimir, Daphnee Ferdinand, Stricker Dilhomme and Naromie Moussignac.
The new route operates daily on American's Boeing 737 aircraft, offering more than 90 connections across the United States through the MIA hub, according to the company. American's Vice President of International Operations José A. Freig cited the airline's "rich history and unmatched footprint in the region," noting it was the first carrier to return to Venezuela earlier this year.
Juan Carlos Liscano, Senior Vice President of MIA Operations, said the U.S.-Haiti connection is "incredibly meaningful" in South Florida and tied the resumption to American's largest-ever winter schedule from Miami. The Miami Herald and Yahoo Travel also reported on the launch.
