Twenty-one agronomists and veterinary agents completed three weeks of theoretical and practical training in artificial insemination in October 2026, under the aegis of the Ministry of Agriculture, according to haitilibre.com. Held from October 12 to 30 in the commune of Fonds-des-Blancs, the program was organized through the animal production component of the Resilient Agriculture for Food Security Project (PARSA) and implemented by a consortium of the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA) and the Haitian NGO GIRADEL. Participants included agronomy students from universities across the country and veterinary agents from the departmental agricultural directorates of Nippes, Sud, Grand'Anse and Centre, along with IICA supervisors. The session was led by agronomist Michelet Mascary, the consortium coordinator, and Ronelson Stinfil, an expert in small ruminant husbandry. Trainees practiced each stage of the technique on goats, covering animal assessment, estrus synchronization, insemination methods, health monitoring, ultrasound interpretation and equipment handling. Stinfil said participants are now equipped to carry out inseminations for livestock farmers and to raise awareness of the technology's benefits for herd genetics. The program aligns with PARSA's objective of conducting 50 inseminations in each intervention department. The report notes results depend on equipment availability, health monitoring, technical proficiency and farmer support.
